"To come into sympathy and spiritual communion with my brothers of the animal kingdom , Where inarticulate souls have a sinless purity much like an innocent child. Have faith in their instincts as in a mysterious wisdom given from above."
(paraphrased from: Dr Charles Alexander Eastman ( Ohiyesa)
From the book : Native American Quotes , The Wisdom, Maxims and Spiritual Insights of Native Americans)
Wisdom in quiet solitude , calm wind and clear sky .The late winter sun slowly warming the cold and damp earth. First swelling of buds on the berry bushes , soon all of nature will burst forth in celebration of the warm moons .All things growing anew.
Soon Taqua ( the blue crab ) will come to the warm shallow water, to mate , to grow.
The "Standing People" ( trees)
Their arms raised to the sky. Not in defiance but in praise to YAH - the Great Spirit.
Their rough arms stark against the clear blue sky . Greeting and welcoming the warmth of the sun as he rides higher in the sky each day. Each day he shares more of his warmth with the beings below.
Father YAH - The Great Mystery
I give you thanks ,
For the bread of the earth that feeds me.
For the animals , in them I see your touch. They teach me things that no man can.
I thank you for the four winds the blessing of the rains and of the sun - you alone direct their coming and going.
The stars and moon you have given me - to find my way , to mark the times and seasons. The sun for it's warmth and light.
The Ocean and Great Waters conceal mysteries of your creation that only you can know. All of nature surrounds me , shelters me and provides sustenance for me in it's season.
As I pray for the healing of your earth, your land and your people ,those of your creation. Teach me gratitude for all these gifts you have given to me, to your people.
